She was the oldest of two siblings and took great delight in teasing the shit out of them as they grew up. Her mother was a second-wave feminist and made sure to instill in both her daughters an appreciation for themselves and an independent nature. A nasty side-effect of this is that it made Alison a bit selfish, even as she had her big sisterly instincts that made her want to look out for the people she cared for. When Trespasser rampaged in early September of 2013, Alison lost most of her family. She and her younger sister Bridget were away at two different colleges on the opposite side of the country and were the only ones to survive. Despite the grief that threatened to overwhelm her, Alison pushed on and graduated with honors the following May. When the PPDC opened its doors, Alison got her bad self over to the enlistment offices and offered up her technical skills and weapons fascination, quickly getting herself a place in munitions. She stayed working in munitions on various Jaegers until the birth of her son when she was forced to take some leave and spend some time away from the Shatterdomes--though she didn't let it make her quit work entirely. After all, if there was no resistance and the final mission didn't work, she wouldn't have a world to raise her son in. AND NOW FOR SOME HEADCANON BULLET POINTS. ► She has a minor obsession with lasers, guns, electricity, and things that go boom. ► She likes to blast techno and dubstep in her headphones while she's working. ► There was a minor thing with Yancy Becket in a bar. She ended up a little bit in love with him, but she loves/d Tendo a lot more. ► After she lost her family to trespasser, she was lonely for a long time. Which lead to her not wanting to let go of certain friendships and relationships until she knew she had other people there for her. That's why she was okay with cheating on her boyfriend with Tendo. ► On similar lines, she doesn't like committing to emotional intimacy without having spent a lot of time with a person. There are a lot of things she plays close to the chest and she's not likely to bandy around words like "best friend" easily. She's too scared of losing people again. ► The boyfriend she cheated on was a mechanic named Brad. He was nice to look at and sleep with, but not the sharpest tool in the shed. ► Yancy Choi lives with Alison's sister in New York while she works at the Shatterdome. Thanks to some friends with planes and helicopters, she visits him whenever she can. ► She feels a little guilty about not living with her son full-time. But she's too attached to her job and too dedicated to seeing the last mission through to let it bother her too much. ► Raleigh is in her phone as "Annoying Labradoodle" but she loves him, really. ► Due to the fact that Bridget really does not want kids, and the fact that Alison doesn't really trust her with baby Yancy long-term without being able to check up on them, Raleigh is Yancy's legal guardian, should anything happen to her and Tendo. ► Alison is a giant dork and gave her son the middle name "Theodore" after the guy who operated the first functioning laser. ► Spicy food is her favorite and she doesn't know how to cook anything that doesn't leave your mouth feeling pleasantly warm.
